Perfect for our newborn and puppy. Close to gorgeous beach, if the weather permits! Loads of countryside walks. Just a lovely rural experience in a lovely setting for true relaxation. Actually there is a lot to do nearby as well such as Dartmouth, Slapton Sands and so on. A lovely time was had by all of us, especially the children loved feeding the ducks and chickens and walking in the stream.
Lovely escape with great beaches only a short drive away. The house had everything we needed and the surroundings were beautifully wild! The welcome cake, the freshly pressed apple juice, the invitation to feed the fowl on site all added to the relaxed experience. The barn has a happy vibe. Sitting on the porch in the evenings, listening to the gentle rustle of leaves while the fairylights twinkled. It had a magical quality and I fell head over heels for its effortless rustic charm. It's well positioned to access some lovely beaches, great coastal walks.
The cottage guide is packed full of great suggestions for places to eat, walks, or things to do. Our kids aged 4 and 5 loved the trip to Dartmouth castle best. It was a restorative break we had here. And I don't know what it is about the water here, but my skin looks clearer and hair looks glossier than ever before.
The barn is lovely located on the countryside surrounded by fields and offers a glimpse on the sea from the balcony. It is well situated to discover the South Hams. The historical barn with its garden is simple, but functional and spacious for a family with 4 persons.

The latter is accessed by an occasionally steep footpath and is around a 20 minute walk from the car park but it is worth the effort and is a truly stunning beach.
The interior is very tastefully decorated and is full of homely touches. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom spotlessly clean, and beds very comfy.

Lovely barn with everything you could need. Close to local beaches and plenty of nice walks in the area. All aspects I would rate as high as possible. Expect to be off grid - surely that is the point? I took some overdue work and its still in the bag. Quack Cottage is such a special place - a very nice and cozy cottage in amazing surrounding with a beautiful river crossing the gardens.
Add to that the very friendly hosts, fresh local organic meat, tame animals lambs, sheep, chicken, ducks and amazing beaches in short distance and you have a perfect holiday - many thansk! Beautiful location for a relaxing get-away. Christine was so kind introducing the children to the chickens and ducks. Plenty to do locally. We even saw a hump back whale off the coast! Quack Cottage is a lovely simple three bed cottage.
Its right next to the bubbling river which a mesmerising, down a narrow twisting lane. We had a lovely stay over new year, and did lots of walking and cooking. If you're into cooking its good to know that there's a full electric hob, double oven, microwave, fridge and also a freezer. Its a lovely place. A beautiful, quiet, atmospheric and genuine place.
Nicely furnished cottage, garden with pretty stream, and very friendly hosts. At the bottom of a Devon valley, so at times a bit dark and damp; but a truly lovely and timeless place. We have had a fantastic idilic break at Quack Cottage and the hosts were all so helpful and kind. Thank you very much! Lovely big house and great space for a large group. It was very comfortable and clean but obviously well lived in so we could relax and feel at home.
Richard met us on arrival and showed us around and made us feel very welcome. There is some lovely country side and coast nearby and we enjoyed canoeing on some of the local rivers. A car and steady nerves required for narrow windy lanes. Would thoroughly recommend this place for large groups or family events. The house and its gardens are absolutely gorgeous. We were a large group with plenty of small children and couldn't have wished for a better place to stay and explore the South Hams from.

This was a heavenly place, very private with amazing wildlife and walks. The bird song was amazing. The lodge was lovely and well equipped. We were in the Look Out and hope we can stay again.
The lodge was clean and in a peaceful and secluded location surrounded by woodland and a stream. Be prepared for the drive as roads are very narrow and windy, but it's worth it for total peace and quiet. We could drive to local towns such as Dartmouth and the beach in Salcombe in half an hour. We booked our particular lodge because of the hot tub, unfortunately it didn't work for 2 of the days we were there and the lodge lacked a user manual.
However, this did not prevent us from a fantastic few days, where we could totally relax. All towels and bed linen very clean. A uniquely positioned lodge, with great access into Dartmouth, Slapton and Salcombe. Accommodated 6 people well in a cosy, clean setting. Well equipped kitchen with gas cooker. Comfortable beds with nice duvets and pillows, always great to have towels provided.
Plenty of parking right by your front door! Well worth a visit. This place is absolutely ideal for large parties. Just celebrated my parents golden wedding anniversary with the entire family and it's got everything you could need. The facilities are very clean and looks new. Plenty of space to stretch out as a group and the garden is wonderful when the weather is good. Indoors is nice and warm for a large place just in case you aren't so lucky with the weather. Thermostatic central heating throughout. Kingsbridge is just under 5 miles away and the nearest villages 2 miles are Slapton, East Allington and Blackawton. Within 20 minutes you could be at either Dartmouth, Salcombe or one of the many award winning sandy beaches the South Hams has to offer.
Dartmoor is less then half an hour from Tilly's - well worth a day out. Tilly's-Bespoke luxury in acres of countryside. Linen, towels, starter packs of logs all provided own parking. You can occasionally see red deer drinking from the lakes or in the woods.

There are no access steps or within the cottage, which makes it particularly suitable for those with mobility issues. Even in the winter, there are beautiful walks which embrace shoreline and pastureland, exciting views and wildlife to be seen.
Apart from the great variety of birds including buzzards, seabirds, kites and peregrine falcons, the local coast offers sitings of grey seal, dolphins and basking shark. Cosy pubs with roaring fires can be found in local villages, and most of the local towns have plenty to do all the year round, as they support residents and not just the tourist industry.
Dartmouth sports an arts centre which offers live entertainment, films and exhibitions. There are also many fine restaurants open all year in the towns and villages nearby. A very good question. There are some superb London based walking groups on Meetup - Backabush are well known for over a decade of organising superb hiking weekends and brought the whole concept of great value hiking trips to Meetup and Trailblazer have been organising an excellent and huge range of days hikes for over 5 years now.
